Our Story

Deep roots in West Tennessee

St. Mary’s School in Jackson holds a special place in this story as the first parish school to open in West Tennessee. The current leadership page notes that St. Mary’s opened in 1878 and is the oldest parish school in Tennessee.

Catholic education in the region has also been shaped by the faithful service of religious orders, including the Christian Brothers, the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, and the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Their influence continues through schools and communities that carry forward charisms of learning, service, prayer, and formation.

Catholic education gives families a school experience that is both deeply personal and purpose-driven. Students are known by name, held to high expectations, and reminded that their lives have meaning beyond achievement alone.
